Alfred State Farm

Alfred State College Farm is a collegiate educational facility located in Alfred Station NY (Allegany County). The farm is the home to an Organic Dairy herd, milking on a Delaval robot.

In the fall of 2018 we reintroduced the beef and livestock programs to the college after the dispersal of the conventional dairy cows. Our tie stall dairy barn was then retrofitted to a bedded pack pen for beef cows with indoor /outdoor access and a chute to work the cattle with ease and safety in mind. The cattle are housed in the barn during the winter and spring and are on pasture all summer and fall.

Our small herd of registered Red Angus, Hereford and Black Angus cattle was sourced from local breeders with a reputation of hardy cattle, good disposition and favorable genetics.

Our goal is simple. To raise quality beef cattle that would fit in any style of beef operation and to give the students an opportunity to work hands on raising, handling and working beef cattle and livestock from an educational standpoint.
