Hidden Canyon Farm

In 2006, Hidden Canyon Farm (HCF) was established in Lyons, NY. Steve and Sue Olson along with their 2 sons and a daughter-in-law manage a herd of about 80 cows and farm over 100 acres of crop ground. Crops consist of corn, soybeans, oats, and other small grain. An additional 100 acres is harvested as hay that is used for feeding the cows, feeders, and replacement heifers.
The beef herd consists of commercial and registered Angus, commercial and registered Red Angus, Herefords, red necks and black baldies. The calves are finished on the farm and marketed under a naturally raised branded beef programs. In addition, another 12 to 13 head are marketed to local customers.
Records are kept on each cow and their offspring. HCF’s breeding program uses genetics from Genex owned or leased bulls. EPD’s are used in bull selection. In addition, HCF will incorporate other genetics from other reputable breeders that work well with our program. Our market animals are breed to reach a finished weight of 1200 to 1300 pounds at less than 13 months of age with no growth stimulants added. We are looking forward to consigning some of our heifers in the upcoming Right on Red sale in April.
